Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday granted clearance for the release of Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated film Pushpa 2, directed by Sukumar, despite a petition challenging the hike in ticket prices for benefit shows.
The petitioner claimed that tickets for benefit shows were being sold at inflated rates, with an additional ₹800 being charged per ticket. Responding to the plea, the court directed the film’s producers, Mythri Movie Makers, to submit detailed reports of benefit show collections within two weeks.
The High Court emphasized that halting the release at this stage was not feasible and permitted the screenings to proceed. It also stated that it would review the government orders regarding the ticket price hike in its subsequent hearing, scheduled in two weeks.
Advance bookings for Pushpa 2 have already set records, with tickets selling rapidly ahead of its release. The movie, a sequel to the blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise, is slated for a grand release across multiple languages on December 5.
