The Telangana government has reorganized police administration in Hyderabad, establishing four commissionerates to strengthen law and order and improve public service delivery in line with GHMC expansion and the Telangana Rising 2047 vision. The newly structured commissionerates are Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, and Future City.
The Hyderabad Commissionerate covers the Assembly, Secretariat, Begumpet, Shamshabad Airport, and Budwel High Court areas. The Cyberabad Commissionerate includes Gachibowli, Financial District, Nanakramguda, Madhapur, Rayadurgam, Patancheru, Genome Valley, RC Puram, and Ameenpur, encompassing major IT hubs and industrial zones. The Malkajgiri Commissionerate, newly created, comprises Keesara, Shamirpet, Qutbullapur, and Kompally, while the Future City Commissionerate, also newly formed, covers Chevella, Moinabad, Shankarpalli, Maheshwaram, Ibrahimpatnam, and surrounding areas. Yadadri–Bhuvanagiri district has been excluded from these commissionerates and will operate as a separate police unit under an SP.
The reorganization aligns with GHMC zoning reforms and the CURE–PURE–RARE regional development strategy under Telangana Rising 2047. As part of planned urban development, 27 municipal bodies within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) have been integrated into GHMC. The city has been divided into 12 zones, 60 circles, and 300 wards.
In a related administrative move, four IPS officers were transferred to head the new commissionerates. G. Sudheer Babu, formerly Rachakonda Commissioner, has been appointed Future City Commissioner. Avinash Mahanta, previously Cyberabad Commissioner, has been shifted to Malkajgiri, and M. Ramesh, former IG of Logistics, is now Cyberabad Commissioner. V.C. Sajjanar continues as Hyderabad Commissioner.
Special focus has been placed on the Future City area, currently under Rachakonda jurisdiction, due to expected industrial, commercial, and residential growth. The government anticipates increased policing requirements and has set up a temporary office for the Future City Commissionerate at the Ranga Reddy District Collectorate.
