Patna: In a major political development, Tej Pratap Yadav, eldest son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav, has launched a new political party, “Janasakti Janata Dal,” signaling a potential realignment in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. The party aims to bring “total transformation” to the state, according to Tej Pratap.

Announcing the party on his social media handle X, Tej Pratap shared a poster featuring the “Black Board” as the party’s electoral symbol, highlighting its commitment to social justice, civil rights, and comprehensive change. Notably, the announcement did not feature images of Lalu Prasad Yadav or Rabri Devi.

Sources indicate that Tej Pratap has been at odds with his family, particularly his brother Tejashwi Yadav. In May, he was suspended from RJD for six years over alleged violations of party norms, a move widely seen as stemming from internal disputes.

Tej Pratap stated, “We are fully committed to Bihar’s development. Our goal is to bring total transformation and build a new system for the people of Bihar. We are ready for a sustained struggle for the welfare of the state.”

A two-time MLA from Mahua constituency, Tej Pratap has confirmed he will contest the next assembly elections from the same seat. Analysts suggest that his move could impact RJD’s electoral prospects, potentially splitting the Yadav vote base and creating new political dynamics in Bihar. The public response and electoral influence of the new party will unfold in the coming weeks.
