Tamil Comedian Robo Shankar Passes Away at 46

Veteran Tamil comedian Robo Shankar, who gained widespread recognition for his roles in films such as Mari, Viswasam, Velaiyilla Pattathari, Singam 3, Puli, Cobra, and Abhimanyu, passed away on September 18 at a private hospital in Chennai. The 46-year-old actor had been battling kidney-related health issues and collapsed during a recent film shoot. He was immediately admitted to the Intensive Care Unit but succumbed to his illness.

Robo Shankar began his career with films like Hey and Deepavali, and his performance in Mari earned him critical acclaim for his comic timing and expressive acting. Many of his Tamil films were dubbed in Telugu, including Mari, Puli, Singam 3, Nanum Rowdy Than, Abhimanyu, and Cobra, which further expanded his fan base.

Prominent film personalities, including Kamal Haasan, Raghava Lawrence, Vishnu Vishal, Simran, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and director Venkat Prabhu, expressed grief over his demise. His body was moved to his residence in Valasaravakkam, Chennai, and his last rites are scheduled for Friday. The actor’s untimely death has left the Tamil film fraternity and fans deeply saddened.
