A heartwarming moment highlighting maternal love took center stage in the Rajya Sabha during an ongoing parliamentary session. Sudha Murthy, wife of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and a member of the Rajya Sabha, received widespread appreciation from fellow members for her spontaneous act of care and support.
During the discussion on the Indian Air Quality Regulation Bill introduced by Union Minister of Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu, the minister became thirsty. In response, he requested Deputy Chairman Harivansh, who was presiding over the House, to bring bottled water. Harivansh immediately instructed the parliamentary staff to get water.
Before the staff could bring the bottles, Sudha Murthy quickly stepped up, bringing a bottled water bottle from her seat and offering it to Rammohan Naidu. In a gesture of deep respect and gratitude, Rammohan Naidu saluted her with folded hands and thanked her, acknowledging the maternal care and support she has always shown.

Sudha Murthy’s nomination to the Rajya Sabha highlights her significant contributions to fields like social service, literature, and education. She is among the 12 members nominated by the President to the Rajya Sabha for their outstanding contributions to arts, science, and social service. In recognition of her dedication and impact, the central government honored Sudha Murthy with prestigious Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards.
