The meeting resulted in a unanimous resolution urging the central government to postpone the delimitation process for 26 years. The resolution, led by Stalin, emphasized that a population-based reallocation of parliamentary seats could reduce representation for southern states, which had successfully implemented population control measures in the past.
The core committee is set to submit the resolution to the Prime Minister, underscoring the need for a fair and transparent approach involving all state governments and political stakeholders. Southern leaders have raised concerns that states with effective population control policies during the Emergency period may face a decline in parliamentary seats if the delimitation process proceeds as planned.
