Barabanki: A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district claimed six lives and left two others seriously injured on Monday night. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on a bridge over the Kalyani River near Kutlupur village under the Deva police station limits. A speeding car reportedly collided head-on with a truck, resulting in the instant death of all six occupants of the car, who were identified as residents of Fatehpur town. The car was completely mangled in the crash, causing traffic disruption on the route until the wreckage was cleared with the help of a crane.
Local police rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and shifted the injured to a nearby Community Health Centre before transferring them to the district hospital for further treatment. Eyewitnesses described the collision as severe, with the impact throwing debris across the bridge. Emergency teams worked through the night to restore normal traffic flow on the stretch.
District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi and Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya visited the site and supervised rescue efforts. Tripathi confirmed that six people died in the incident, while two others were being treated for serious injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed that the car had entered the truck’s lane, leading to the fatal collision. Authorities have ordered a detailed probe into the accident.
