A private travels bus overturned early Friday morning on the national highway near Dodla Vari Mitta in Pellakuru mandal of the erstwhile Nellore district, leaving six passengers seriously injured. The bus, which was en route from Vijayawada to Bengaluru, lost control and toppled, according to officials. Motorists travelling on the same stretch immediately alerted the police and emergency services, following which 108 ambulance personnel reached the spot and shifted the injured to the Naidupeta Government Hospital.
Local SI Nagaraju inspected the accident site and later collected information from the victims at the hospital. Preliminary statements from passengers indicate that the accident may have occurred due to the driver’s negligence. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. There were 21 passengers on board at the time of the incident, and the private travels management has arranged alternative transportation to their respective destinations. The mishap also led to a heavy traffic jam on the national highway, which was later cleared by the police.
