The Central Government has taken a key decision by appointing new Governors for nine states across the country following the sudden resignation of West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose. As part of the reshuffle, five Governors have been transferred, three new Governors have been appointed, and one leader has been given additional responsibility, according to official orders issued by the Centre.
Shiv Pratap Shukla has been appointed as the new Governor of Telangana. Currently serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shukla will now take charge in Telangana, while the incumbent Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has been transferred to Maharashtra. Born in 1952 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, Shukla earlier served as Minister of State for Finance in the Narendra Modi government. He entered politics through the ABVP and has served four terms as an MLA and also as a Rajya Sabha member.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose resigned from his post on Thursday evening. The move has triggered political discussions as it comes just ahead of the announcement of the Assembly election schedule in the state. President Droupadi Murmu has accepted Bose’s resignation, according to official sources.
In another development, following the completion of Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s tenure, the Centre has appointed Syed Ata Hasnain as the new Governor of Bihar. Overall, the Centre has implemented gubernatorial changes across nine states as part of a broader administrative reshuffle.
