Vijayawada: YS Sharmila, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, made significant and controversial remarks during a media conference at the Congress party office in Vijayawada. Sharmila expressed her displeasure with YV Subbareddy, labeling him as a mere puppet of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“Subbareddy is enjoying political and financial benefits while being closely associated with Jagan. Today, Subbareddy spoke; tomorrow, it will be Sai Reddy. We need to examine the honesty between the two. I am ready to swear on my children that I know the truth. But will Subbareddy take an oath?” Sharmila challenged.

She commented on the ongoing asset dispute, emphasizing that it is Vijayamma’s choice whether to address the issue publicly. Sharmila asserted that YSR’s intention was to distribute assets equally among his four children, stating, “Rajasekhar Reddy desired equal shares for all four children. Jagan once expressed to YSR, ‘I am the one who wishes for my sister’s well-being after you.’ Can Jagan swear he did not ask for this? If he claims the assets are his due to naming them after Bharathi, how can that be justified? They could only name them with our consent.”
Questioning the apparent hypocrisy, Sharmila stated, “They are asking why I haven’t gone to jail, but why hasn’t Bharathi gone to jail?” She emphasized that nobody writes a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) when gifts are involved, clarifying, “I am responsible for allocating the assets, which is why the MOU was created. It states that the Saraswati shares will be transferred immediately, and those shares are not attached by the ED. Is there anyone unfortunate enough to file cases against their own mother? Vijayamma is devastated as her own son has filed a case against her. Does Jagan lack humanity and emotional sentiments?”
Sharmila mentioned that while she has disregarded comments from political figures like Sajjala and Perni Nani, Subbareddy’s remarks moved her emotionally. “Subbareddy is like my own younger brother. Why would he wish injustice upon my children? We all worked hard together, leading to significant success for the YSR Congress. I have worked beyond my capacity, and Vijayamma has also put in immense effort. Despite the risks to my life, I undertook a padayatra. I campaigned for both elections in a short span. I have done much for my brother, but what has Jagan done for me?”
Sharmila criticized the allocation of positions to Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy, who included YSR’s name in the charge sheet, concluding, “Jagan must understand whether he is a leader or a sadist. Did my mother think it would be better if a son like this was eliminated early on? If I die, would that be considered a positive outcome?”
