Reports suggest that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s security has critical vulnerabilities, with Western intelligence agencies reportedly infiltrating his inner circle. In the summer of 2025, fearing Israeli attacks, Iran banned all VIPs from using mobile phones. However, a small oversight by Tehran has now exposed the country’s top leadership to potential threats.
Drivers and Security Staff Exploited
While Khamenei’s personal phones were secured, the mobile devices of drivers and bodyguards were not closely monitored. Israeli intelligence agency Mossad reportedly exploited this gap to track the movements of Khamenei and his team. Investigations indicate that one of the Supreme Leader’s closest bodyguards may have been acting as a CIA informant, providing critical intelligence to orchestrate attacks.
Bunker and Traffic Camera Surveillance
Since protests began, Khamenei has reportedly been hiding in a secret bunker located five minutes below ground via a specialized lift. Mossad is said to have used insider intelligence to determine the precise timing of operations. The agency had also previously hacked Tehran’s traffic camera network, closely monitoring entrances to key compounds and mapping the locations of officials and their vehicles, forming the basis for a meticulously planned strike. During the attack, communications were reportedly disabled to facilitate a clean escape.
Psychological Operations via Prayer App
In addition to the strike, Israel reportedly hacked the widely used Iranian prayer calendar app “Badesheba.” Following the first explosion at 9:52 a.m., users received messages urging them to stand against religious authorities. The move amplified public uncertainty and highlighted gaps in Iran’s intelligence apparatus, while demonstrating Israel’s advanced espionage and cyber capabilities on a global stage.
