American pop singer and hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to four years and two months in federal prison after being convicted in July of transporting individuals across state lines for sexual activities, a violation of the Mann Act. The 55-year-old has already served nearly a year in custody, meaning he is expected to serve approximately three more years. Combs was acquitted of more serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering, which could have resulted in a life sentence. In addition to the prison term, the court imposed a maximum fine of $500,000.

The sentencing was handed down by Indian-origin Judge Arun Subramanian, who noted that Combs had misused his authority and resources. Combs’ legal team has announced plans to appeal the verdict. The ruling follows the dismissal of the more severe charges, which spared him from life imprisonment and has generated significant attention within the music industry due to its high-profile nature.

During the sentencing, an emotional Combs apologized to his mother and his seven children, who were present in court. He admitted to struggling with drug addiction at the time of the offenses and expressed deep remorse, saying, “I am deeply ashamed. My heart is broken. I hate myself now. I’m truly sorry for everything,” highlighting the personal toll of the proceedings and his regret over past actions.
