Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu took to her Instagram Stories to share a message on behalf of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC). She praised the “persistent efforts” of the women’s collective in Kerala, which contributed to the findings of the Hema Committee report. Samantha also called on the Telangana government to release the report addressing sexual harassment in the Telugu film industry.
In her Instagram Stories, Samantha expressed her support for the Hema Committee report, stating, “We, the women of the Telugu film industry, welcome the Hema Committee report and applaud the persistent efforts of the WCC in Kerala that paved the way for this significant moment. Inspired by the WCC, The Voice of Women—a support group for women in the TFI—was established in 2019.”
She further urged the Telangana government to take similar steps, emphasizing the need for a safe working environment in Tollywood. Samantha added, “We urge the Telangana government to publish the submitted sub-committee report on sexual harassment. This report is crucial for shaping government and industry policies to ensure a safe working environment for women in the TFI. @wcc_cinema.”
