Former Russian President and current Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has condemned the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, warning that the move could trigger a wider conflict in the region. In a strongly worded statement, Medvedev claimed that several countries are prepared to supply nuclear weapons to Iran, although he did not disclose their names. He also lashed out at former U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of sparking another war in the Middle East. “Elected as a peace advocate, Trump is now fueling instability,” he remarked, adding that the Israeli strikes have already left Iranian civilians living in fear.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also issued a stern warning following the attacks, vowing that Tehran would respond decisively to any further aggression. He criticised the U.S. for violating international norms by launching strikes despite existing airspace restrictions and labelled the assault a major crime. Araghchi warned that Iran reserves the right to retaliate, including targeting U.S. military bases in the region. Russia, which has maintained strategic ties with Iran, continues to oppose any military intervention and called for de-escalation to avoid a broader regional crisis.
