Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Sunday urged that Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) be reclaimed, citing rising unrest and protests in the region. Speaking at the inauguration of the Sindhi Camp Gurudwara in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, Bhagwat likened India to a house and PoK to a room within it. He emphasized that an occupied room in one’s own home must be reclaimed and reaffirmed that PoK is an integral part of undivided India. His remarks were met with loud applause from attendees.
Bhagwat further underscored national unity, stating that while people may identify differently, they are ultimately one and predominantly Hindu. Highlighting the presence of Sindhi community members at the event, he noted that they remained in India rather than migrating to Pakistan after partition. He said, “My house is one, but someone has occupied a room meant for keeping tables, chairs, and clothes. Tomorrow, I must reclaim it,” drawing enthusiastic responses from the audience.
The remarks come amid violent protests in PoK, which have reportedly claimed the lives of at least 12 people, with several others injured. Bhagwat also highlighted that the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) has been protesting against the alleged atrocities by the Pakistan government and military in PoK. To curb the unrest, Pakistan reportedly signed a 25-point agreement with JKJAAC, which includes measures such as compensation for victims of violence and the establishment of two additional intermediate and secondary education boards in the Muzaffarabad and Punch divisions, according to Pakistani Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.
