Reports in international media suggest that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared in public since the start of the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Speculation about his whereabouts has intensified, with several reports claiming that he is currently in Moscow, where he is reportedly receiving medical treatment from Russian authorities.
According to the reports, Mojtaba Khamenei is believed to have travelled from Tehran to Moscow aboard a Russian military aircraft to undergo surgery for a leg injury. However, there has been no official confirmation from Iran or Russia regarding these claims so far.
The developments come after the joint strikes carried out by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28. In those attacks, Iran’s then Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed, following which his second son Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the country’s top leadership position.
Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Mojtaba had suffered serious injuries in the strikes. Meanwhile, Israel has claimed that he may have died in the attacks. Amid these conflicting narratives, reports about Mojtaba Khamenei’s presence in Russia have attracted significant global attention.
