Kuchipudi: In a landmark move set to revolutionize healthcare access for the underprivileged, Ravi Prakash Silicon Andhra Sanjeevini Hospital in Kuchipudi unveiled its new Dhanvantari Ward. This significant expansion promises to extend advanced medical services to an even greater number of patients, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to delivering free, high-quality corporate-level care to the poorest communities. The hospital management anticipates that the new ward will not only enhance service capacity but also cement the hospital’s reputation as a beacon of hope and healing in the Diviseema region.
Hospital Inception and Background
Ravi Prakash Silicon Andhra Sanjeevini Hospital was inaugurated on Vijayadashami, on October 18, 2018, with the aim of providing free corporate-level treatment to the poor in Kuchipudi village. The inauguration ceremony was conducted by the then Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
Founders’ Vision
Ravi Prakash and Silicon Andhra founder chairman Kuchipatla Anand collaborated to offer corporate-level medical care to the underprivileged in the Diviseema region. Since the devastating Diviseema cyclone in 1977, modern medical care has remained a distant dream for the area. Establishing a corporate-level hospital in Kuchipudi, a village renowned worldwide for its Kuchipudi dance, seemed ambitious but necessary, as the region lacked a full-fledged government hospital. Residents had to travel 30km to Machilipatnam Government Hospital, 25km to Gudivada Government Hospital, or 50km to Vijayawada Government Hospital for medical care.
Hospital Infrastructure and Services
The hospital is constructed on a 150,000 square feet area adjacent to the main bus stand in Kuchipudi, serving 151 villages in ten mandals. The five-story building houses 200 beds and offers free treatment to the poor at a corporate level. Daily, the hospital caters to 300-350 outpatients and 55 inpatients. The hospital is now developing day by day, providing free treatment to many poor people. Especially for pregnant women, from the time of pregnancy till delivery and the newborn’s homecoming, everything is provided free of cost. State-of-the-art corporate-level beds are being used in this hospital.
Available Medical Services
The hospital provides a wide range of medical services, including general medicine, orthopaedics (bones, joints), ENT, gynaecology (women, obstetrics), paediatrics (young children), polytrauma, general surgery, dentistry, urology, diabetology (diabetes), cardiology, pulmonology (chest and lungs), and neurology. Free services include consultations, medications, blood tests, X-rays, ultrasound scanning, TMT tests, surgical procedures, ICU, dialysis, ward services, and meals for both patients and attendants. The largest X-ray lab in Asia is located only in Ravi Prakash Silicon Andhra Sanjeevini Hospital. The three biggest operation theatres are also being prepared for use in the future.
Hospital Staff and Facilities
The hospital employs 14 doctors and 90 nurses and cleaning staff. It operates two 24-hour ambulance services and has two blood test labs and two operation theatres, with five more in development.
Community Impact
The hospital’s services have been highly appreciated by the local community, who previously faced challenges in accessing corporate-level healthcare. Patients express relief and happiness that such quality medical care is now available locally.
Key Role of Ravi Prakash
Ravi Prakash played a crucial role in the construction of the hospital, donating Rs 4 crores and raising an additional Rs 8 crores through friends and telethons. His initiative has ensured thousands of people in Diviseema receive free corporate-level medical treatment. Ravi Prakash’s commitment to social responsibility has made high-quality healthcare accessible to the poor in the region.
With continued support from donors, Ravi Prakash Silicon Andhra Sanjeevini Hospital is poised to expand further, providing even more comprehensive care to thousands of poor individuals in the future.
