The ongoing controversy surrounding the illegal export of ration rice from Kakinada has intensified political debates in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP and Jana Sena parties have accused Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy, the former YSRCP MLA, of being connected to the alleged smuggling activities. In response to these allegations, Dwarampudi strongly denied any involvement, stating that false propaganda was being spread against him by certain individuals.
He categorically stated that he had no connection to rice exports from the Kakinada port, nor was his family involved in any such activities. Additionally, he accused State Finance Minister’s relative Srinivas of being associated with exporters operating at the Kakinada port.
Addressing the media at his residence, Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy highlighted the impact of export restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. He pointed out that the export halt led to food shortages in many countries, with instances of starvation occurring due to the absence of rice exports from Kakinada.

Between 2019 and 2024, he claimed that nearly 98% of rice exports from Kakinada took place. He accused the current coalition government of smuggling ration rice illegally from the port, which has forced exporters to shift their operations to other ports.
Dwarampudi also warned of potential economic repercussions for farmers in the Godavari districts and Krishna district if rice exports through Kakinada were stopped. He stated that it would result in significant financial losses as buyers would no longer purchase rice in these regions.
He made it clear that he and his family had no ties to the rice export activities and provided details that 75% of the rice exported through the Kakinada port comes from Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Bihar. Dwarampudi reiterated that State Finance Minister’s Viyyankudu Srinivas also plays a role in the exporters operating at the port.
