Patna: Congress leader and opposition chief Rahul Gandhi made startling allegations of widespread vote manipulation by the BJP during the conclusion of the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Patna, Bihar. Referring to recent incidents of electoral malpractice as a “mini-bomb,” he warned that a more powerful “hydrogen bomb” of revelations would follow, cautioning that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could face serious consequences.
Addressing the gathering, Rahul Gandhi said, “We will not allow the BJP to undermine the Constitution. This Voter Adhikar Yatra was organized to protect democratic rights and received a strong response from the people. We presented evidence of vote fraud in Karnataka and Maharashtra. Stealing votes is equivalent to stealing rights, democracy, and livelihoods. Soon, a more powerful revelation on vote manipulation will come forward.”

The march also included the Gandhi-Ambedkar March, which was halted midway by police intervention. Congress leaders continued their speeches at the venue, targeting the BJP over alleged attempts to influence the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the BJP of attempting to win through electoral manipulation and stated that the double-engine government would be defeated.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra, which began on August 17, covered 25 districts and 110 assembly constituencies, spanning around 1,300 kilometers. Rahul Gandhi highlighted key issues such as unemployment, farmer distress, inflation, and industrial development, while criticizing the state government. Opposition parties have also raised concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar, alleging that nearly 6.5 million voters were removed.
Rahul Gandhi had previously accused the BJP of large-scale vote manipulation in Bengaluru, claiming over 100,000 votes were affected in the Mahadevapura assembly constituency. He alleged collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission, though Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar clarified that no vote theft had occurred, emphasizing that questioning the EC’s integrity undermines the Constitution. The issue of alleged vote fraud remains a prominent topic in political discourse ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
