Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that any country deploying troops to support Ukraine will be considered a legitimate target by Moscow. He emphasized that such actions would not contribute to long-term peace and accused Western alliances with Kyiv of fueling the conflict.
Putin questioned the need for foreign military presence if peace talks succeed, reiterating Russia’s commitment to existing agreements. His comments come amid heightened diplomatic efforts, as 26 European leaders met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Paris to discuss security assurances.
French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer led the talks, with U.S. special envoy Victoria Nuland Vitkoff also in attendance. While Macron assured that Europe would stand by Ukraine’s security, he withheld specific details. The leaders further agreed to provide Ukraine with long-range missiles, signaling readiness to strengthen Kyiv’s defenses if negotiations collapse.
