Hyderabad witnessed widespread protests after reports of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death in US and Israeli strikes. Demonstrators gathered in Old City, led by the local organization Tanzim-e-Jafferi, to mourn Khamenei. Large crowds marched through the streets, chanting slogans against Israel and the United States, resulting in severe traffic congestion.
Iranian media confirmed that Khamenei was killed in Saturday’s attacks, which also claimed the lives of several family members, including his daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and grandson. The strikes targeted Khamenei’s residence, which was reportedly destroyed, although Iranian authorities stated he had been moved to a secure location prior to the attack.
US President Donald Trump confirmed Khamenei’s death on Truth Social early Sunday, a report subsequently verified by Iranian media. The announcement has fueled heightened tensions between Iran, the US, and Israel, with regional and international attention focused on the unfolding crisis.
Shiite Muslims in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir, also staged protests condemning the assassination. Videos of these demonstrations have gone viral on social media, reflecting widespread outrage and solidarity with Iran.
