Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited Jammu and Kashmir to inaugurate key infrastructure projects, including the iconic bridge over the Chenab River and a new Vande Bharat Express train. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi launched a sharp attack on Pakistan, stating that “every time the name Operation Sindoor is heard, Pakistan is reminded of its defeat.” He reiterated that India will never bow to terrorism and accused Pakistan of attempting to incite communal unrest within the country.
The Prime Minister also announced financial assistance for those affected by terror attacks in the region. Families whose houses were completely destroyed will receive Rs 2 lakh, while those with partially damaged homes will be given ₹1 lakh. Modi further alleged that Pakistan has exploited the people of Kashmir, who depend heavily on tourism for their livelihood. Referring to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, he said it was a direct assault on humanity and the spirit of Kashmiriyat.

Omar Abdullah Praises Modi and Vajpayee for Railway Progress
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and other local leaders lauded the Modi government for completing the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway project. Former CM Omar Abdullah said the project, which British rulers could not achieve, was successfully implemented under Modi’s leadership. He also acknowledged the contribution of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, crediting him for granting national status to the project and increasing its budget. Recalling the long timeline of the railway initiative, Omar noted that he was in 8th grade when the project’s foundation stone was laid.
