Nicosia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his official visit to Cyprus, was on Monday conferred the nation’s highest civilian honour — the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III. The award, presented in recognition of his contributions to strengthening India-Cyprus relations, marks a significant diplomatic gesture.
Accepting the honour, Prime Minister Modi stated, “This recognition is a tribute to the 1.4 billion people of India. I dedicate this award to the enduring friendship between our two countries.”
During his address, Modi also expressed concern over escalating tensions in West Asia and Europe. “We are deeply worried about the current geopolitical situation in these regions. This is not the era for war,” he remarked, in reference to the ongoing conflicts between Israel and Iran, and Russia and Ukraine.
