New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, describing it as a heinous act that claimed innocent lives and struck at the soul of the nation. Addressing a gathering in Bihar during the National Panchayati Raj Day celebrations, the Prime Minister observed a two-minute silence in memory of the victims and launched infrastructure projects worth ₹13,480 crore.
“Innocent lives were lost in the Pahalgam attack. This was not just an attack on tourists—it was an attack on the soul of India. The entire nation is mourning. We will pursue the perpetrators and their collaborators with full force and deliver punishments beyond their imagination,” Modi said. He added that all those involved, including facilitators, would be held accountable.

The attack has triggered widespread protests across Kashmir, with local citizens, traders, and hotel owners staging demonstrations in solidarity with the victims. Protesters voluntarily shut their shops and took to the streets, raising slogans in support of the Indian Army and condemning terrorism.
In response to the heightened tensions, India has reportedly directed Pakistani military and diplomatic personnel operating in its missions to leave within a week. In a parallel development, Pakistan has issued a notification for missile testing in the Arabian Sea near the Karachi coast on April 24 and 25, raising security concerns.
Indian defense authorities have confirmed that they are closely monitoring the situation. In Mumbai, security has been tightened, with increased patrolling at beaches, hotels, railway stations, shopping malls, and other high-footfall areas. The missile test announcement has added to the existing tension, with speculation emerging over potential escalation in India-Pakistan relations.
