Petrol and diesel prices in India have been hiked following a surge in crude oil prices in the international market. Oil marketing companies increased fuel prices by an average of around Rs. 3 per litre for both petrol and diesel, with the revised rates coming into effect from 6 AM on Friday.
In Andhra Pradesh, petrol prices increased by Rs. 3.29 per litre, while diesel prices rose by Rs. 3.14. In Telangana, both petrol and diesel prices were revised upwards by around Rs. 3 per litre each, reflecting the nationwide upward trend in fuel prices.
Among metro cities, petrol prices have also witnessed a sharp rise. In Delhi, petrol now costs Rs. 97.77 per litre, while Mumbai recorded the highest rate at Rs. 106.68. In Kolkata, petrol climbed to Rs. 108.74 per litre, and in Chennai it reached Rs. 103.67.
Diesel prices have also increased across major cities, reaching Rs. 90.67 in Delhi, Rs. 95.13 in Kolkata, Rs. 93.14 in Mumbai, and Rs. 95.25 in Chennai. The sudden hike has raised concerns among vehicle owners, who fear an increase in transportation costs and a possible ripple effect on essential commodity prices.
