In a recent development regarding the rape and murder of Kolkata trainee doctor, the victim’s parents have alleged that multiple individuals were involved in the crime. They claim that their daughter was intentionally killed, with accusations directed at Sanjay Roy for being hired to commit the murder. The parents believe that the killing was linked to their daughter’s knowledge of sensitive information related to the hospital or influential figures.
The parents have expressed deep distress over the circulation of fake news about their daughter’s death on social media. The mother of the deceased was seen in tears, reflecting on her daughter’s suffering during the attack.
The parents also criticized Sanjay Ghosh, the Principal of RG Kar Hospital, for failing to contact them following their daughter’s death. They were disappointed by the lack of communication and information from the hospital even after the incident. The parents recalled their daughter’s aspirations to pursue an MD and then a DM, noting that Principal Ghosh seemed apprehensive about failing her. They claimed to have provided Rs. 5 lakhs for her wedding expenses, which they alleged was used for improper purposes.
They reported that their daughter’s body was withheld from them for an extended period. They were informed of her death by phone and arrived at the hospital by noon, but were separated and not taken to the seminar hall for three hours. The parents accused the police of mishandling the investigation and noted the absence of staff from their daughter’s department, with only police present at the scene. They eventually met with the principal only after a public outcry, but he did not engage with them.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has since instructed the Commissioner to take action. The post-mortem was completed by 6:10 PM. The parents also mentioned that their daughter, who was on duty with four others, never discussed her friends. They expressed uncertainty about who financed the swift arrangements for her funeral and believe that the police investigation has been mishandled from the start.
