Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen stamped her dominance once again by winning the gold medal in the women’s 51 kg category at the World Cup Boxing Championships. She outclassed Chinese Taipei’s Gao Yi Xuan 5-0 in the final, launching sharp counterattacks from the opening round and maintaining complete control throughout the bout. After her early exit in the recent World Championships, the Telangana boxer made a strong comeback on the global stage with this emphatic win.
With Nikhat’s victory, India’s gold tally at the event rose to eight. Jasmine Lamboria (57 kg), Parveen Hooda (60 kg), Nupur Sheron (80 kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70 kg), Preeti Panwar (54 kg) and Meenakshi Hooda (48 kg) also clinched gold in their respective categories, while Hitesh Gulia (70 kg) and Sachin Siwach (60 kg) secured top honours in the men’s division. India additionally bagged six silver medals through Jadumani Singh, Ankush, Pawan, Abhinash and Pooja Rani, concluding the tournament with a total of 20 medals — 9 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze — to finish on top of the standings.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy congratulated Nikhat Zareen for her stellar achievement, praising her for bringing international glory to the nation. Calling her triumph an inspiration for young athletes, he expressed hope that she would continue to scale greater heights in the years ahead.
