Investigations into the Delhi blast case have revealed startling new information. Authorities have identified that the accused terror doctors had formed a new extremist organization called “Ansar Interim.” The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is leading the probe, uncovering the group’s structure, roles, and operational plans.
The group, including Mujammil Gani, Umar Nabi, Muzaffar Maulvi Irfan, Adil, Kari Amir, and Taufeel Ghazi, met in Srinagar in April 2022 to establish Ansar Interim. Adil was appointed chief and Maulvi Irfan deputy chief. The group pre-planned their roles, operational codes, and responsibilities, with Umar acting as coordinator and Gani overseeing finance and procurement.
In 2023, the group procured materials and chemicals for potential attacks, including potassium nitrate from a chemical shop in Faridabad. Umar reportedly learned to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs) by watching online tutorials. Adil also brought Danish, from South Kashmir, to Al-Falah University for potential operations, which were later aborted. Investigators noted Umar as the most radicalized member of the group.
The group had plotted bombings in crowded areas and places of worship in Delhi. Srinagar police foiled their plans in advance, which reportedly caused Umar severe stress. He later carried out a car bomb in Delhi, committing suicide. Investigators also revealed his previous failed attempts to join extremist organizations in 2016 and 2018. The case is linked to the November 10 car bomb explosion near Errakote in Delhi that claimed 15 lives.
