Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh has approved significant reforms in the state’s Intermediate Board after extensive public consultations. Chairing the 77th meeting of the Board of Intermediate Education at the Amaravati Assembly, Lokesh introduced key changes to the academic calendar and curriculum, set to be implemented from the 2025-26 academic year.
Key Highlights:
– Academic Calendar Revision: Government junior colleges will commence from April 1 instead of June 1, while admissions for first-year students will begin from April 7.
– Exam Schedule Shift: Annual exams for first and second-year students will be conducted from the last week of February 2026, instead of March.
– Complete Digitalization: Tabulation registers will be fully digitized to ensure transparency and efficiency.
– Elective Subject Integration: First-year students can select an elective subject as a second subject from 24 options across languages, humanities, and science streams.
– Introduction of MBiPC Course: A new course with six subjects, integrating Mathematics and Biology, will be introduced.
– Revised Syllabus and Textbooks: Updated textbooks will be introduced for 14 subjects, including languages, science, and humanities. Mathematics A and B papers will be merged into a single subject, while Botany and Zoology will be combined for BiPC students.
These reforms aim to bridge the gap between government and private institutions while enhancing the overall learning experience for students.
