A celebration to commemorate the centenary of Akkineni Nageswara Rao took place at RK Cineplex, attended by the Akkineni family along with notable figures such as director K. Raghavendra Rao and actor Murali Mohan. During the event, Nagarjuna announced that the Ayyanar National Award for 2024 will be awarded to Chiranjeevi, with the ceremony scheduled for October 28.

Nagarjuna revealed that Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan will serve as the chief guest for the celebration. He stated, “Whenever we think of our father, we smile. The films he acted in are returning to audiences. A video showcasing my father’s cinematic journey will be presented at the IFFI event in November.”

Special videos are also being created to honor other Dadasaheb Phalke awardees, including Raj Kapoor. Nagarjuna expressed gratitude for the support from fans, noting, “It’s heartwarming to see many participating in blood donation drives and providing meals for the elderly in ashrams. Your support is something we will never forget.” He added that Chiranjeevi became emotional upon learning about the award, emphasizing its significance.

Director K. Raghavendra Rao remarked, “The Akkineni and our families are not separate. By establishing Annapurna Studios, a landmark in Hyderabad, he provided employment to many.” He also elaborated on the deeper meaning behind a scene in his film “Sri Ramadasu,” where the father and son greet each other.
