Nalgonda: Deputy Tahsildar Javeed of Miryalaguda in Nalgonda district has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000. The bribe was reportedly solicited to facilitate the release of vehicles seized by the Civil Supplies Department in connection with illegal transportation of ration rice.
According to ACB officials, Javeed demanded the amount from a local individual who had approached him seeking the release of the seized vehicles. The complainant alerted the ACB, following which a trap was laid and Javeed was caught red-handed.
The case is linked to a larger racket involving the purchase of subsidized ration rice in Telangana and its sale at higher prices in Andhra Pradesh. Several vehicles used in the illicit trade were seized recently in Miryalaguda.
Following the arrest, the Nalgonda District Collector issued suspension orders against Javeed. A formal case has been registered, and he is currently in ACB custody.
