During Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to the Madakshira constituency, police arrested several local Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders. In response, Minister Lokesh posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter), urging forgiveness for the incident and emphasizing the coalition government’s opposition to house arrests and preventive detentions.
Minister Lokesh condemned the continued use of such measures by certain police officials, despite the transition from the previous government. He assured that the current administration is dedicated to safeguarding democratic rights, including the right to question the government and protest peacefully. Lokesh also called on senior police officials to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and to ensure that preventive arrests and house detentions are not repeated in the future.
