A massive fire broke out at a restaurant and the residential space above it in the Katghar area of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday night, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. The blaze intensified after four gas cylinders exploded, prompting locals to alert the fire department. Seven fire engines were dispatched to the scene, and after strenuous efforts, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control. At the time of the incident, 15 to 16 people were inside the restaurant.

Dr. Junaid Asari, Emergency Medical Officer at Moradabad District Hospital, confirmed that seven patients were admitted, including a 56-year-old woman who succumbed to her injuries, while the others are in stable condition. Chief Fire Officer Rajeev Kumar Pandey stated that the initial call came around 10 p.m., and due to the explosion of gas cylinders, the fire spread rapidly, necessitating the deployment of additional fire engines. Sixteen people, including four women and two children, were successfully rescued. Moradabad SP City Kumar Ranvijay Singh added that the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Katghar Police Station, and all individuals were evacuated safely, with one confirmed death reported later. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
