A shooting incident at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday evening sparked widespread panic, leaving at least 11 people dead. The attack occurred as tourists were enjoying their time at the popular beach, when two gunmen allegedly entered the area and opened fire, forcing people to flee in fear.

Eyewitnesses said two masked men climbed onto a pedestrian bridge and began shooting. Authorities suspect the attack was aimed at a specific event taking place at the location. Security forces immediately rushed to the scene, with helicopters and ambulances deployed to evacuate the injured and secure the area.

Police said one of the attackers was killed during the incident, while the other was taken into custody by Sydney security forces. The arrested suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Naveed Akram. Investigators are questioning him from multiple angles and have conducted searches at his residence. He is also being interrogated in connection with previous shooting incidents.

It is suspected that the attack occurred while Jewish community members were celebrating Hanukkah at Bondi Beach. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed deep shock over the incident. As many as 29 people were injured and have been admitted to hospitals for treatment. Police are treating the incident as a suspected act of terrorism.
