Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, the recipient of this year’s prestigious Nobel Peace Prize, has made a notable announcement on her social media. Despite former U.S. President Donald Trump campaigning for the award, he was not selected. Machado stated that she is dedicating the prize to the Venezuelan people and to Trump for his support of their struggle.
In her post, Machado highlighted the hardships faced by Venezuelans and emphasized that acknowledging their suffering strengthens their fight for freedom. She wrote, “Recognizing the struggles of the Venezuelan people inspires our movement and contributes to the cause of liberty. We are nearing victory. Now more than ever, we rely on Trump, the United States, and the peoples of Latin American countries. Democratic nations are our key allies.”
Machado concluded by reaffirming her dedication, saying, “I dedicate this Nobel Peace Prize to President Trump, who has supported our struggle, as well as to the Venezuelan people enduring hardship alongside us.”
