Major Encounter in Chhattisgarh: 31 Maoists Killed

A significant encounter took place in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, resulting in the death of 31 Maoists. The number of fatalities is expected to rise further. In response, Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the operation as a major victory in the fight against Naxalism. He vowed that by March 2026, India would be completely free from Naxalism.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Amit Shah said, “In the operation in Chhattisgarh, security forces have eliminated 31 Maoists and seized a significant amount of arms and explosives. We lost two brave soldiers in this fight against Naxalism, which is a threat to humanity. The nation will remain indebted to them. By March 31, 2026, we will eradicate Naxalism from our country, ensuring that no citizen loses their life due to it.”

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel praised the courage of the security forces. He noted that the state government has been actively fighting against Naxalism since assuming office. The encounter also resulted in two soldiers suffering serious injuries, and they are currently being treated in Raipur. This is considered the second-largest encounter in Chhattisgarh’s history.
