Patna, Oct 28: With assembly elections approaching in Bihar, the opposition alliance Mahagathbandhan released its manifesto titled “Tejashwi Pran” on Tuesday. The document, unveiled by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav along with other alliance leaders, highlights employment generation, women welfare, and social security as its key promises.

The alliance pledged to enact a law providing at least one government job per family within 20 days of assuming office. It also promised that the recruitment process would begin within 20 months. Under the ‘Mai-Behin Maan Yojana’, women are to receive Rs 2,500 per month from December 1, amounting to Rs 30,000 over five years. Separate schemes—“BETI” for daughters and “MAI” for mothers—were also announced.

The Mahagathbandhan assured regularization of all contract and outsourced employees, offering them government employee status with a monthly salary of ₹30,000. The manifesto further pledged to reinstate the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

Each household will be entitled to 200 units of free electricity, while senior citizens and widows will receive ₹1,500 per month and differently abled individuals Rs 3,000. On the education front, women’s colleges will be established in every subdivision, and new degree colleges will come up in 136 blocks. Application fees for competitive exams will be scrapped, and students will be provided free travel to examination centers.

For the agricultural sector, the alliance promised Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all crops. In the health sector, every citizen will be covered under free health insurance up to ₹25 lakh, while district hospitals and medical colleges will be equipped with super-specialty facilities.

The manifesto also proposed raising MNREGA wages from Rs 255 to Rs 300 per day and doubling the number of workdays from 100 to 200. It suggested expanding reservations for OBC and SC/ST communities and including them under the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution.

The alliance announced a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and corruption and proposed fixed tenures for police officials. It also assured protection of minority and Waqf properties, including transparent management of Waqf assets and the transfer of Buddhist temple administration in Bodh Gaya to the Buddhist community.

The Bihar Assembly elections will be held on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
