Hyderabad: The headquarters of Maha News channel in Hyderabad came under attack on Saturday, allegedly by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) activists. The violence reportedly erupted after the channel aired reports mentioning former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) in connection with the ongoing phone-tapping investigation.
According to eyewitnesses and video footage circulating on social media, a group of BRS workers stormed into the media office, vandalised property, shattered glass windows, and damaged several vehicles using iron rods, sticks, and large stones. The attackers were also heard raising slogans objecting to comments made about BRS leader Ramanna during the channel’s coverage.

Maha News Managing Director Vamshi issued a strong statement condemning the attack. “Is this the state of democracy? Are we to be attacked for reporting facts? Is media freedom no longer respected?” he questioned. Vamshi added that the assault appeared to be a direct retaliation for the channel’s attempts to highlight allegations related to the phone-tapping issue. The channel has urged authorities to take strict action against those responsible and ensure protection for journalists and media establishments.
