Lucknow: A woman allegedly died by suicide in Indira Nagar, Lucknow, after being emotionally distressed by a remark made by her husband. The deceased, Tanu Singh, reportedly took the extreme step after her husband Rahul Srivastava casually referred to her as “Bandariya” (monkey), which deeply upset her.
According to family members, the couple had returned from Sitapur on Wednesday evening and were spending time together when the incident occurred. Following the remark, Tanu went into her room and did not respond to calls for dinner. Rahul later noticed her hanging from a ceiling fan through a window and rushed her to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Tanu, a resident of Sadat Ganj, had married Rahul four years ago in a love marriage and was keenly interested in modelling. Her sister Anjali said she was emotionally sensitive and easily hurt by small comments.
Police have initiated an investigation. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem examination. No formal complaint has been registered so far.
