Argentine football superstar Lionel Messi arrived in Mumbai on Sunday afternoon as part of his “GOAT Tour,” marking the third city on his India visit after Kolkata and Hyderabad. The football legend is scheduled to participate in several high-profile events, generating significant excitement among fans and sports enthusiasts.
Messi is set to meet cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar at the Cricket Club of India, with Indian cricket stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma expected to attend. Later, he will play an exhibition match at Wankhede Stadium alongside Bollywood celebrities, a spectacle anticipated to draw thousands of fans from across the city.
As part of the Maharashtra government’s “GOAT Football Clinic,” Messi will also conduct football training sessions for children, with Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri participating in the program. Additionally, Messi will showcase and auction items from the 2022 FIFA World Cup during a private fashion event.
Following organisational issues at the Kolkata Salt Lake Stadium event, Mumbai authorities have deployed strict security measures for the superstar’s visit. During his Hyderabad vist, Messi interacted with children, posed for photographs, and greeted fans from the VIP box at Uppal Stadium. After completing his Mumbai engagements, Messi will continue his tour in Delhi, which will serve as the final city of the GOAT Tour in India.
