Hyderabad: BRS Party Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has welcomed the relief granted to former MLC Kavitha Kalvakuntla in the Delhi liquor scam CBI case. KTR alleged that the so-called scam was a fabricated story created solely to target the Kejriwal government, causing significant political losses for his party in assembly and parliamentary elections.
“Today, justice has been served to Kavitha. Similarly, all false cases filed against our leaders will soon be exposed,” KTR said. He criticized the Congress and BJP for attempting to mislead the public through media campaigns until the truth comes out.
KTR further said the allegations were politically motivated and highlighted that in today’s India, creating media spectacle has become more fashionable than presenting evidence. He added that Kavitha’s clean chit proves that, regardless of the conspiracies, justice ultimately prevails.
Kavitha’s Statement
Reacting to her exoneration, Kavitha said she had told the public from the start that she would come out of the case unscathed. She expressed confidence in the judiciary, which was reaffirmed by the verdict, and reiterated that the case was politically motivated. Kavitha revealed that she and her family endured months of distress due to the proceedings and criticized investigative agencies for being misused to target opposition leaders.
She expressed disappointment over inappropriate comments made against her before the verdict and thanked everyone who supported her during the difficult period. Following the court’s decision, she posted on social media: “Satyameva Jayate” (Truth Alone Triumphs). Kavitha had spent nearly five months in Tihar Jail.
The Rouse Avenue Court on Friday also acquitted former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the CBI case related to the Delhi excise scam.
