Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly condemned the recent attack on Maha News channel’s Hyderabad office by alleged BRS supporters. In a statement posted on social media platform X, KTR emphasized that there is no place for physical violence in a democratic society and urged party workers to exercise restraint.
“Physical assaults have no place in democracy. At the same time, there should be no room for lies, irrelevant outbursts, or low-level politics in the guise of journalism,” KTR stated. He added that while he understands the workers’ emotions and loyalty, the party will approach the courts to address defamatory content. “Let’s trust in the judicial process and respond through legal channels,” he said.
The incident occurred on Saturday after Maha News aired reports linking KTR to the ongoing phone-tapping investigation. Angry over the channel’s coverage, a group of BRS activists allegedly stormed the office, smashed glass windows, and damaged vehicles parked outside. Protesters reportedly expressed anger over comments made about BRS leader Ramanna. Videos of the vandalism have since gone viral on social media, prompting calls for accountability and media protection.
