Hyderabad: Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi has strongly countered Chiranjeevi’s recent remarks on male heirs, asserting that daughters are equally rightful successors.
#Chiranjeevi ji
Please start believing and realising that a daughter too is a legacy and no less.
It all depends on how u bring up the daughter and how she keeps evolving.
Please learn from parents who brought up their daughters to make a place for themselves and were well… pic.twitter.com/rpl606ruyz— Kiran Bedi (@thekiranbedi) March 3, 2025
Taking to social media, Bedi emphasized the importance of recognizing daughters as heirs, stating, “Chiranjeevi, believe that daughters are also successors. They are in no way lesser. Their success depends on how they are raised and supported. Learn from parents who empower their daughters—they too bring pride to their families. Many have already proven this.”
Her statement has since gone viral, sparking widespread discussion.

During the pre-release event of ‘Brahma Anandam,’ Chiranjeevi spoke about Brahmanandam’s legacy, expressing his wish for a male heir to carry forward his own lineage.
“At home, I don’t feel the presence of my granddaughters around me. It feels as if I am a ladies’ hostel warden, always surrounded by women. Charan, please have a son at least now. I want a grandson to continue my legacy. But I fear that Charan might have another daughter instead,” he remarked.
The comments quickly went viral, leading to significant criticism and online debate.
