Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that AAP will contest the 2027 Goa Assembly elections independently, ruling out any alliance with the Congress Party. Speaking at a public rally in Goa, Kejriwal sharply criticised Congress, accusing the party of misleading Goans and “handing over its MLAs wholesale” to the BJP. He also alleged that the BJP and Congress have joined forces in Goa to pursue corrupt politics, underlining the need to reform the state’s political system. Highlighting past defections, he noted that between 2017 and 2019, at least 13 Congress MLAs switched to the BJP, followed by 10 more in 2022, and stressed that AAP’s goal is to establish a governance model ensuring the people have rightful control over Goa’s resources.
Kejriwal expressed confidence that AAP will form the government in the upcoming elections and pledged to dismantle Goa’s old political system, replacing it with a new, transparent model of governance. The Goa Assembly elections are scheduled for February 2027, and Kejriwal positioned AAP as a credible alternative to the state’s existing political order, promising systemic reforms and accountable administration.

In a personal reflection, Kejriwal shared that during his time in Tihar Jail, where he was held following an Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrest in a money-laundering case related to Delhi’s liquor policy, he read the Bhagavad Gita five to six times. Addressing AAP workers, he emphasised the Gita’s teaching of Karma Yoga, or performing selfless work without expectation of reward, and urged them to serve the public through initiatives like Mohalla Clinics, describing such service as a means of earning merit. He also noted that he had obtained court permission to carry religious texts, including the Gita and Ramayana, during his incarceration.
