Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium during the Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL victory celebrations. The incident claimed 11 lives and left several others injured.
The Chief Minister described the tragedy as heartbreaking and noted that while the stadium’s capacity is 35,000, the crowd swelled to several lakhs, far exceeding expectations. This unprecedented turnout contributed to the stampede.

An official inquiry has been ordered into the incident. Siddaramaiah announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased and assured that the injured would receive the best possible medical care.
He also criticized attempts by the BJP to politicize the incident, urging all parties to maintain sensitivity around the tragedy.
