Kanpur: A sleeper bus on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway overturned , resulting in three fatalities and leaving 25 passengers, including six children, seriously injured. Among the deceased was a five-year-old child.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus lost control after the driver, reportedly drowsy and under the influence of alcohol, collided with a divider. The bus, traveling at high speed, slid approximately 50 feet and overturned, scattering debris over a wide area. Passengers were trapped between seats and had to wait for rescue in the isolated location.
Police reached the accident site following reports from some passengers and faced challenges in rescuing the injured. Officers had to cut through bus seats and windows to free those trapped inside. The injured were subsequently taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The incident highlights concerns over driver negligence and road safety on expressways.
