New Delhi: Prajashanthi Party president KA Paul has alleged an attempt to kidnap him in Delhi while he was attending Supreme Court proceedings related to the betting app case. In a video statement, Paul claimed that seven men surrounded him and chased him in autos and cars before he managed to escape. He has filed a complaint with Delhi Police and written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking action. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Paul recently filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Supreme Court demanding a ban on online betting apps, citing financial losses and rising suicides among youth. He alleged that over 1,000 young people in Telangana alone had died by suicide due to betting-related losses and criticized celebrities, including actors and cricketers, for promoting such platforms. He urged the court to impose an immediate ban and take action against endorsers of these apps.
