Iran has reportedly suffered a major setback in the ongoing West Asia conflict, with claims emerging about the death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy Chief Alireza Tangsiri. Israeli officials stated that he was killed in airstrikes on Iran’s coastal city of Bandar Abbas. According to Israel, Tangsiri had been overseeing operations related to the Strait of Hormuz and had been serving in the position since 2018. However, Iran has not officially confirmed the reports.
The conflict continues to intensify, with fresh missile attacks reported across the region. In Abu Dhabi, two people were killed and three others sustained serious injuries following Iranian strikes. In Israel, multiple casualties were reported, including five injured in Kafr Qasim and two in Tel Aviv, underscoring the expanding scale of hostilities.
The IRGC claimed responsibility for targeting Israeli military command centers and industries linked to nuclear infrastructure. Analysts believe that if the reports of Tangsiri’s death are accurate, it could impact Iran’s strategic grip over the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global energy supplies.
Meanwhile, speculation over Russia supplying drones to Iran has drawn an official response from Moscow. Russia has denied the allegations, stating that it is not providing drones to Iran and dismissing the reports as baseless amid the escalating geopolitical tensions.
