Amid growing concerns over the possibility of fresh military strikes by the United States and Israel, Iran has launched a nationwide campaign of mass weddings for young couples as part of a broader nationalist initiative. In the capital city of Tehran, nearly 1,000 couples were married on Monday under the supervision of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The ceremonies were organized under the title “Zouj-e Janfida,” a Persian phrase meaning “Couples Dedicated to Sacrifice.”
The large-scale wedding procession began at around 8 PM from major locations, including Imam Hussein Square, and continued up to Azadi Square. Iranian authorities officially organized the event to coincide with the wedding anniversary celebrations of Prophet Ali and Prophet Fatima, which hold deep religious significance in Shia Islam. The event was presented as both a cultural and patriotic program aimed at strengthening national unity during a period of heightened regional tensions.
Iranian military Deputy Cultural Chief Rahim Nadali stated that such initiatives are intended to discourage enemy nations psychologically while inspiring patriotism and sacrifice among Iranian youth. He said the program reflects Iran’s determination and demonstrates that its citizens are prepared to defend the country under any circumstances. According to officials, the campaign is part of the wider “Jan-Fada” movement promoting dedication and national resistance.
As part of the initiative, the IRGC has also launched the official website “janfadaa.ir” to expand the campaign nationwide. Reports suggest that millions of Iranians have already registered on the platform. The campaign reportedly encourages citizens to pledge support for Iran and express resistance against the United States and Israel amid the ongoing geopolitical crisis in the region.
Supporters of the IRGC have praised the campaign, stating that it is helping unite the country and energize the younger generation. They believe the initiative effectively blends traditional marriage customs with patriotic and nationalist values, creating a strong emotional connection between cultural identity and loyalty to the nation during a sensitive period for Iran.
