The developments come just days after US President Donald Trump stated that Iran’s military capabilities had been severely weakened. Contrary to those claims, Iran’s recent actions suggest a continued ability to mount effective counterattacks despite sustained pressure from US and Israeli operations.
According to reports, Iran executed these strikes using advanced EO/IR (Electro-Optical/Infrared) sensor technology. Even after its radar systems were damaged in earlier attacks, Iran relied on passive detection methods that track heat signatures from aircraft engines. This allowed Iranian forces to launch missiles without being easily detected, reducing the effectiveness of US aircraft defense systems.
A crucial role in these operations was played by Iran’s domestically developed Majid (AD-08) missile system, designed to target low-flying aircraft, helicopters, and drones. The system can engage targets within an 8-kilometer range and track multiple threats simultaneously. Despite advanced countermeasures such as flares and heat suppression systems in aircraft like the F-15E and A-10, Iran appears to have exploited tactical vulnerabilities.
